Established in 1798, Blair Athol Distillery is just over a mile away from the hotel. For such a small distance, you cannot miss out on seeing one of Scotland’s oldest working distilleries, still open to the public.
The distillery can be reached by the A9 road, which is easily accessible. In a car, this should take about four minutes so you won’t have to worry about a long journey home if you decide to sample the products!
Visitor centre at Blair Athol Distillery in Pitlochry
The distillery visitor centre was built in 1987. It is open in all seasons and attracts around 30,000 visitors a year.
On visiting the centre, you can witness how the distillers use the clear waters of Allt Dour, which is the one of the most valuable resources of the local area.
You can take a tour of the distillery and find out some of the secrets to the art of distilling malt whisky. Absorb the sounds and smells of a distillery with a wide range of available tours.
Once you have finished the tour, you will be able to sample the end result and try its distinctive taste with a complimentary dram.

Blair Athol tour
The tour offers you a chance to see the whole of the distillery and how the Blair Athol Single Malt is made. A tour guide will tell you the secrets of the distilling process and how they use the highly regarded waters of Allt Dour.
The tour finishes with a dram of single malt whisky so you can experience the nutty and spiced signature taste of their blended whisky.
Flora and Fauna tour
These tours are private and need to be booked via telephone. Numbers range from three to 18.
In your own private group, you can see the whole of the distillery and how the highly regarded Blair Athol 12 Year Old Single Malt is produced, which takes years of distilling to get its distinct taste.
There is also a private tour and tasting of the Flora and Fauna Range. This takes 12 years to distil and offers a creamy and nutty taste that is appreciated by many whisky lovers.
Allt Dour Deluxe tour
The Allt Dour Deluxe tour is the best option for true whisky fans who want a full experience of the distillery.
The tour lets you have a private tour and tutored tastings of some of Blair Athol Distillery’s finest whiskies.
The whiskies that are discussed and tasted include: the Blair Athol 12 Year Old Single Malt and Cask Strength Blair Athol, which is drawn directly from the cask.
There is four further drams to try from the Whisky Treasure Trove. These include private tutored tastings to talk you through the subtle tastes of these high-end whiskies.
Tour numbers are between two and eight. Booking is highly recommended.
