Summer Breaks in Pitlochry
There’s never a dull moment should you choose to take a summer break in Pitlochry and, with so much going on, where better to stay than at the Pine Trees Hotel. The hotel is only a short walk from the centre of town, where there is an excellent variety of shops, including an award-winning deli, contemporary gift shops selling Scottish products, whisky specialists, country clothes and outdoor equipment suppliers, and a great range of eateries from cafes to fine dining.
Throughout the summer season many events take place on a weekly basis and there’s a huge range to choose from. Take a tour of the estate, or an attic tour, at Blair Castle, meander round the Scottish Plant Explorers’ Garden with an experienced guide, get a genuine flavour of Scotland at one of the Highland Nights, with pipe bands and Scottish dancing, join in an open McMusic session, or have a laugh at the Comedy Club at McKays.
For the more energetic visitor, an extensive range of exciting outdoor activities is available all year round. Hire a bike from Escape Route and explore the beautiful hills, riversides and forests, play a round of golf on Pitlochry’s Hidden Gem course, a short distance from the Pine Trees Hotel. The area around Pitlochry is also home to more adventure sport opportunities, per square mile, than anywhere else in Europe and on offer are white water rafting, canoeing, canyoning, horse and quad-bike riding. You can even throw yourself more than 130 feet off the platform at Highland Fling Bungee, Scotland’s only bungee company, near Killiecrankie.
For the whisky connoisseur, the area is home to several distilleries, including Bell’s Blair Atholl Distillery and Scotland’s smallest (and prettiest) distillery, the Edradour, which nestles in a hollow in the hills above Pitlochry, a short drive from the Pine Trees Hotel.
