A brief History

1892 to 1911 - The name ‘Pine Trees’ derives from the acres of woodland and beautiful tall Perthshire trees that surround the hotel. However, when the original mansion house was built as a private house in 1892, it was known as Tom-na-Monachan which roughly translates to ‘Hill of the Monks’ or 'The Monks Hill'.

From 1911 to 1935 - Pine Trees remained a private home, and among the owners was His Excellency Yervant Hagog Iskender, founder of the 'Citizens of the World Movement'.

1935 to the present day - The house was converted to a hotel in 1935 and during WWII, it was used to provide rest for officers when it was taken over by the war office.
