As he settles into life at Pine Trees, we caught up with him to talk about the journey that brought him here, what first drew him to our little corner of Perthshire and the one thing he thinks makes Pine Trees particularly special.
And, because there's more to life than hotels, we also found out what happens when he clocks off - including family time, football and walks with Beau, his sausage dog.
• For those who haven’t met you yet, tell us a little about yourself and your journey in hospitality.
I started working at 13 in a small bazaar shop in Tunisia, selling souvenirs to tourists. That early experience not only gave me the chance to learn several languages but also sparked my love for hospitality. Since then, I’ve explored a variety of roles — from holiday representative to Guest Service Manager by the age of 19. Over 18 years ago, I moved to Scotland, and my career has taken me through leadership positions in hotels and resorts, always focused on creating memorable guest experiences and building strong, supportive teams. What excites me most about this industry is its variety — no two days are ever the same, and each day is an opportunity to make a positive impact for guests, colleagues, and the wider community. I’m especially passionate about luxury hospitality and delivering experiences that guests will never forget.
• What was it about Pine Trees that made you want to become part of the team?
Pine Trees immediately stood out to me for its combination of rich heritage and fresh vision, all in one of the most beautiful corners of Scotland. Being able to work with such a passionate team and contribute to shaping the next chapter of this special property was an opportunity I couldn’t resist.
• What do you think makes Pine Trees different from other places to stay in Scotland?
It’s the unique blend of genuine hospitality, stunning surroundings, and the instant comfort guests feel when they arrive. Pine Trees provides an experience that is both relaxed and thoughtfully curated, giving guests the freedom to explore while also delivering an authentic and warmly Scottish welcome.
• What’s your favourite thing about Perthshire — and where would you send a guest who wants to experience the area like a local?
Perthshire is a perfect mix of natural splendour, rich history, and outdoor adventure. For a truly local experience, I always recommend exploring the nearby forests and trails, visiting the charming villages, and taking time to soak in the breath-taking landscapes that make this region so special.
• Pine Trees is all about getting out and exploring, then coming back to somewhere comfortable. What does the perfect day at Pine Trees look like to you?
For me, it starts with a hearty breakfast before heading out to explore — whether that’s a woodland walk, a local attraction, or simply enjoying the scenery. Returning in the evening to relax, savour a fantastic meal at Fauna, and finish the day with a dram while unwinding in comfort is what makes the experience complete.
• What are you most excited about as you settle into your new role?
I’m genuinely thrilled to work alongside the team to enhance the guest experience and make Pine Trees a destination that visitors can’t wait to return to. There is so much potential here, and I’m eager to help create another luxury boutique hotel that truly reflects the heart of Scottish hospitality.
• Is there a particular guest experience, dish, place or detail at Pine Trees that you think everyone should discover?
The atmosphere. Guests may come for the location, the rooms, or the food, but it’s the warmth of the welcome and the sense of being genuinely cared for that leaves the lasting impression. It’s a wonderfully relaxed feeling that’s hard to forget.
• And finally, when you’re not at Pine Trees, what does a perfect day off look like for you?
A perfect day off is about spending quality time with my wife and daughter and our wee dog, the outdoors walk with my sausage dog “Beau” and recharging. Whether it’s discovering somewhere new or simply enjoying a quiet day with a cup of coffee , I love coffee, it’s the balance between activity and relaxation that I value most as well watching football
